I’m leaving for NYC this morning but wanted to post this so I wouldn’t forget when I came back. Introducing the 2008 Election Day Advent Calendar from Gerrymander; it’s brilliant. There was one back in 2006 that I got for my friend’s bday. What a great idea….

Just as a traditional Advent calendar counts down the days to Christmas, the Election Day Advent Calendar counts down the days up to Election Day. You’ll still get to open one little door each day, but instead of opening up to winter scenes, you’ll reveal a changing political and electoral landscape, narrated by the likes of Benjamin Franklin and Molly Ivins, and featuring appearances by, among many others, Ronald Regan and the Selma marchers.

How it works

  1. Hang it up somewhere
  2. Open a door a day
  3. Repeat step #2 until Election Day
  4. Haul self to polling place

The Calendar was created by Gerrymander, a Chicago-based company that makes fun political stuff. Gerrymander is Paul Smith and Ben Helphand, who conceived the Calendar. The Calendar was designed by Melissa Dean, with help from Andrew Seay.
