I love spring and summer in Columbus. It’s when the city comes alive and there always seems to be something going on every weekend. This Saturday starts several busy ones in a row for me. It all starts early in the morning with Race for the Cure (go, Team Perez!). After walking to save the ta-ta’s, Christina and I will be grabbing some lunch and hitting both C.W. Flea and Agora 6 (of course, the obligatory Starbucks stop will be in there somewhere).pink_dayPLUS

Remember, it’s not too late to register for the Race. You can do it as late as Saturday morning. Also be sure to come out and support Columbus’ local art, crafting and music community at Agora.

I am beside myself with excitement because today I booked a weekend trip to NYC to attend the Brooklyn Renegade Craft Fair. Woo hoo!!! I’ve been to New York a bunch of times but have never visited Brooklyn beyond a one-time trip to see a friend’s apartment. So not only will I get to scour RCF for some kick-ass handmade goods, I’ll get to explore Williamsburg with a local BK girl. (Thanks for letting me crash with you, C-dawg!)

The big kahuna Renegade is in Chicago on the weekend of September 12th, which I am plotting and planning to attend as well since I’ve never been to Chicago either (I know, it’s kinda ridiculous). My hope is that one day I won’t just be a shopper at these fairs, but actually holding down my own booth.

Renegade Brooklyn will be taking place Saturday and Sunday June 6th and 7th at McCarren Park from 11am – 7pm. Check it out!

1. Oh, the Places You’ll Sew! stitching postcards allow you to document your travels across the USA, Europe or the world. Cute! (via Twig & Thistle)

2. I discovered Persimmon jewelry on Etsy because they are one of Grosgrain’s new sponsors. Even though I love this Mondrian necklace, I don’t think I could pull it off. Still fun though!

3. Paris: Made by Hand by stylist Pia Jane Bijkerk has been making the rounds lately on a lot of the blogs I read and when I saw it on Decor8 I knew¬† it would be mine. My copy arrived yesterday and I am not disappointed. The photography is beautiful and its compact size makes it toteable or coffee table-worthy. It is a dream of mine to go to Paris one day so this just makes it that much more tempting. You should check out Pia’s blog for more eye candy.

4. Elizabeth Demos appears to have my dream home and dream career as owner of @Home in Savannah, Georgia. Her tastes and knack for discovering decorative gems is unreal. (via design sponge)

5. You’ve gotta love Holly’s weekly Etsy Take Five Tuesdays where she features five Etsy shops each week. It’s a great source for discovering fresh talent. She recently highlighted Natasha Morton, an artist from Edinburgh, Scotland. I was quickly drawn to her collection of canvases entitled 81 Cents.

Tonight was an enjoyable evening. A yummy sushi dinner with a dear friend followed by Jeni’s splendid ice cream for dessert (1 scoop dark chocolate, 1 scoop creme fraiche with cherries). Here are a few shots I captured on the stroll.

I’m very excited to tell you all about a new monthly feature coming to Creative Envy beginning at the end of May. Although I should apologize since this is literally just the announcement. You’ll have to wait for a full rundown on 5/31. The idea here is that if I introduce it here today, you know, IN WRITING then I’ll actually follow through on the delivery. I’m psyched to get started on it, so please stay tuned.

Between 500 Days of Summer and Away We Go, it looks like it’s my kind of summer for movies. I love Away We Go’s sketchy graphics on the title sequences. I can’t seem to find who did them but they’re very Juno-esque. I wonder if it’s the same person. It hits theaters in June. The cast is awesome and the soundtrack is by Alexi Murdoch (YES!). I can’t wait to snatch up both movies’ tunes.

Today is a perfect spring day in Columbus. Sunny and in the 60s. Thankfully, the meteorologists who called for rain got it wrong. My friend sent me an email forward the other day with some amazing photos. Here are a couple of my faves from the bunch that I found appropriate for today.

Hope you’re all having a great weekend.
